QR-Codes

QR-Codes (=Quick Response): A pattern leads to a network of information. An interface to the digital world!
They are signs that signal: With a smartphone you can learn more by simply scanning!
And "more" in this case means not only quantity but primarily affects the quality of the information / of the artistic message / the socially critical statement / the scientific work / the political opinion / .....

Girih

Girih (= nodes): patterns like a network! A bridge between art, mathematics and science. Messages from before, which are used, reinterpreted, in the embassy building.

"Girih tiles" - a set of five simple polygons: decagon, hexagon, pentagon, rhombus and one tile refered to a bow tie. The edges of the tiles all have the same length, and each wears a simple pattern whose lines bisecting the edges. When laying the tiles next to each other, the line patterns connect to form a cohesive network which extends over the entire surface.

A symbol of a century-old tradition.
Today as well symbolism in art, spiritualism, science.

What do these 3 have in common?

Experience / Knowledge / Art / Networks / Movement / New technologies / The values of "ubuntu" World

I was getting curious about the beautiful sculpture in front of the embassy of Turkey in Berlin. Several times in a week I past it cycling through the Tiergarten. Emotions and curiosity were created. Searching for information was unsuccessful. At my request to the Embassy to their meaning, I received an invitation. After an initial talk with the consul Nuray Inontepe, I did spent a lot of time with the sculpture, the "seagulls", looks like as if they span the world like a grid. I discovered a network, a movement, the group and the individual.

Perceptions, experiences and cognition lead to an extensive knowledge, which shapes our reality.

This art object, you are holding in your hand (Print & Webseite), is to arouse your curiosity.
Girih e.g. is a century-old tradition in arts and crafts and is used with a new interpretation in the embassy building. Their mathematical decryption is only a few decades back and gave impuls for new directions in science.
The development of QR codes is back only a few years and already offers new ways. Knowledge must be brought in the world, made accessible to everyone. Use networks to spread information, gain experience, gain knowledge, change in thinking ....

And what has Ubuntu (= humanity) to do with it? Ubuntu is a free operating system based on free programs. A social goal of Ubuntu is to bridge the digital gap (Provide free acces to the digital world). The Ubuntu font family used in this page is Ubuntus default font.
